The Revelation Of Desire

“I didn’t know I was allowed to have THOSE kind of desires for myself?!!!” My client said to me.

That’s right, the “selfish” desires, the desires of your heart, not just the desires that help everyone else and make the world a better place.

Don’t get me wrong, as heart centered women, our desire is to make an incredible impact in this world and love and serve those closest to us—but so often, this completely overpasses our own desires and before we know it, we don’t actually know what we even want or need, much less are we doing anything to attract those desires into our lives.

When I asked my client what she actually wants in life, anything from emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual, circumstantial desires, she looked at me with eyes so wide and said “I literally have no idea! I’ve never even thought about that before!”

Bingo. 🎯

This isn’t the first time a client has said this to me, in fact, almost every single one of my clients are such big hearted givers and over achievers and have lived in self-sacrificing patterns all their life, aiming to please everyone else and never once stopping to ask themselves what they actually need in order to thrive and be the best versions of themselves.

I know this all too well, because I used to be that woman too.

Living in a perpetual cycle of people pleasing and over-extending, over-delivering, and over-giving to the point where my own desires were silenced and locked up with no key in sight.

After so long of the continual cycles of burn out, exhaustion and depletion, my clients (and myself included) hit a wall where they know SOMETHING has got to change because they can’t keep giving from a nearly empty vessel.

It all starts with asking yourself what you really need, then what you want, then what do you need in order to make those two things happen.

From there, you set your daily non-negotiables in order to be the best version of yourself, and implement healthy boundaries to support that.

Then, it becomes really easy to say “no” and leave behind the people pleasing ways because you’re instantly able to recognize if something is or isn’t in alignment with your core values, needs, and desires, and because you’re fiercely loyal to yourself at this point, anything or anyone not serving your highest path, you easily wave to and keep moving forward.

💎I challenge you today, take at least 5 minutes to yourself and ask yourself the following questions, being unapologetic and raw with your answers:

  • What do I need right now?

  • What do I want right now?

Then, implement one new thing that day to meet those needs.

If you’re trying to give from a place of depletion, are you actually serving or  just spinning your wheels?

We can’t give from an empty cup, love.

If you’re needing permission from someone, here it is: fill that cup up!

It doesn’t matter what’s it’s filled with….coffee..tea..tequila…just fill it up ;)

I’m rooting for you.
